A Quick Fix

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?" The Lord Said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground." (Genesis 4: 9,10)

Are you familiar with the above verses from the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible? For those of you who may not be, let me give a little background information. The story involves Cain and Abel, children of Adam and Eve, the first people. Cain is Abel's older brother. The Bible tells us that Cain worked with the soil, planting crops while his younger brother Abel was a Shepherd.
Back then "offerings" to the Lord were most often given in the form of crops from the field or animals, depending on one's occupation. God tells us that Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil to him as an offering, but Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. Cain brought his offering to God with an attitude of complacency and he kept the best for himself. Abel on the other hand, brought the best that he had in thankfulness to God. God was pleased with Abel's gift, but not with Cain's. This made Cain very angry. He tricked Abel into going out into the field with him, and he attacked and killed him. Cain thought that no one would know what he did, but God knew. That is when God came to Cain and asked where his brother Abel was. In verse 10 God says to Cain, What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
How do we apply this to our lives today?

In our country millions of babies have been murdered by abortion. Our government says it's okay to kill the unborn, that they are not really people yet. Let me ask you this; at what point does an unborn baby become a human being with a soul if not at conception? Is it when the child's heart starts beating? Is it when the eyes are visible? Or maybe it is when the sex can be determined. Is it when the mother feels movement inside her belly? Is it when that child makes its entrance into the world outside of the womb? What do you think???? If not at conception, then when?

God is the author of life. Children are His precious gifts to us. God grants life and only He determines when life should end. God tells us in Genesis 2:24, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Sex is a gift from God. He meant for it to be between one man and one woman in marriage for a lifetime. It brings married couples closer and as a result of their love for each other God gives them children.

Remember, we are all going to answer to God someday. Will God ask you as he asked Abel; where is the child I blessed you with? Will God say to you, Listen!
The blood of your child, a precious gift from me, cries out to me from the ground!

If you are contemplating having an abortion, God knows. Open your Bible to Psalm 139:13-16. Read what God says about the unborn. God sees your child's unformed body. He knows your baby's name. Pray to him. Ask him to help you make a good choice.

If you have had an abortion, God knows. He knows not just about your baby, but about the millions of babies who have been aborted over the years. He knows each of them by name. Their blood cries out to him from the ground. His precious gifts have been discarded like garbage.

If you have had an abortion, there is hope! Do not despair! Our God is a just God, but he is also a loving and forgiving God. Go to him in prayer. Tell him you are sorry. You are forgiven through Jesus who took your punishment upon himself when he died on the cross.
